my dreams

as a child my life dream wasn't to become a fireman
it wasn't to become a teacher
it wasn't to become a pilot
it wasn't to become a doctor
and it wasn't to become a celebrity of any kind sports/acting/singing etc

my dream was to become aboriginal

to live as the aboriginals do.

i yearned to run, simply to run as far and for as long as i could.
i wanted to just live in harmony with nature as much as i could,
and when i heard about the aboriginies, and read some of their dreaming stories,
it really rang true inside me.

and this is where my love of the darker skin colours stems from.
not only this but those detective stories based in botswana gave me quite a positive picture too.
on top of this the novel 'the colour purple', oprah, whoopie goldberg, MLK [martin luther king],
obama, and the rabbit proof fence, all of these movies and novels and people worked together
to heighten my liking for these people.

its as simple as wanting to be one with nature.
i wanted to swim in rivers and hunt fish.
i wanted to run amongst trees without a sound.
i wanted to run across deserts and know where water was to be found.
i wanted to build my own house from raw materials.
i wanted to build fires and cook my own food.
i simply wanted to be one with nature in the simplest way possible.
to live in it.

but i grew up white, in a white world, with white bread, white plates,
white fridges and microwaves, white bed sheets, and a majority of white people.

i often missed that childhood dream, and all i did to placate myself was to
run along the beach, or swim in the ocean, or to sit in a tree, or simply to
allow the wind to play in my hair.

nowadays i'd like to live with nomads for a little while. but i'm not sure
i'll ever be doing that...
who knows though?

anyhow.
yeah actually that's it for today.
all the best in every way
