reality

i'd like to make something crystal clear.

i don't believe in any kind of heaven. or hell.

i like the idea of saints, and grecian gods, and hansel and gretel role models,
but heaven? hell?

they are created places. created by humans.

a stretch of the imagination?

how about a stretch of reality?

people walk around thinking if they've done bad in life, they're going to hell,
they will burn in hellfire for eternity.

that is awful. how could people threaten that?

some people also walk around thinking life is so boring, there's nothing here, no meaning,
no point, no direction for me. so... what do i want to do, get myself into heaven maybe?
what's the quickest way to heaven... a knife across the wrists i suppose. or a jar of
sleeping pills.

see i have never been religious. i've never believed in there ever being any kind of heaven, so
suicide wasn't on the table. at all. 'sleeping princess' was on the table. going into a coma.
or running away with the circus.
but not suicide.
because for me, heaven doesn't exist.

in fact, i believe teaching little children about heaven and hell is like, telling adults that if you are
kind to people, you'll get a piece of cake at the end of the day, and if you are unkind to people
you will get a slap across the face at the end of the day.

well i'm here to tell you that yes, some people do eat cake. and yes some people do get a slap across the face.
also some people do live in extremely hot deserts, with no food, not much money, slave labour, and a crack whip
across their back at the end of the day. some people have stones thrown at them till they die. some people
get shot for saying the wrong thing.

other people walk around in supermarkets wondering which shampoo to buy.
or what brand of bread is the best. or whether or not they should buy 4 or 5 wide screen TV's ?
whether or not they should buy a new laptop for their child, because their 'old' laptop should be thrown out because after 1 year its out of fashion.
or deciding exactly how much they should spend on their new formal dress and hair and makeup and shoes and handbag?
$1000 or $1500 ? hmmmmmmmmm.
they can't decide. because they have everything in life, and when faced with a choice
there's so much available that choice becomes irrelevant, its the importance of having the dress or not, its the importance
of 'being rich' or not.
these people barely even THINK about the people back in the desert, or those staring down the barrel of a gun for speaking.

they simply dream about all the irrelevant BLIDDY THINGS they want.
they walk around dreaming about having cake, when they don't bliddy REALIZE, they already have it.
and it sits on the dinner table right in front of them.

i believe that if you're kind to people, you'll lead a happier life. if you are unkind to people you'll lead
a lonely life. if you feel nothings happening in your life, well maybe stop sitting around, and organise an adventure,
because nature can be the most exciting fun. rock climbing. swimming in the ocean. canoeing.
or just getting in the car and climbing a mountain.

life isn't about getting to heaven or hell, its not about being young or old, its not about being rich or young,
its about being happy, or lonely. and every human on earth can relate to that. being happy or lonely.
its about celebrating your shared memories, shared history, shared jokes,
shared achievements, shared successes.
its about learning as you go, and actually practising what you learn.
its about taking notice of the small details and making sure they're taken care of.
because theconsequences of
not caring, of being lazy, of not taking care of the young ones, not taking care of your health,
not taking care of your mental activity [how much you use your brain daily and how bored or not bored you are],
not taking care of the world including our beautiful awe-inspiring oceans and rainforests, and the people who survived
the ICE AGE and provided all of life on earth.
[and by the way, what a great thank you we give them.
we'll steal all your diamonds, all your oil, and make you farm coffee beans, and cocoa beans [chocolate], sugar, and wheat.]
well the consequences,
they don't just jump out at you and say BOO!
they creep up on you like a stealthy sneaky leopard planning to eat you.

also time is precious.
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
need i say it again.
TIME
IS
PRECIOUS

you think you can do anything you like?
well wake up.
one day you WILL wake up, and you WILL be 50.
or 30. or 40. or however old it may be.

Please, PLEASE, just please realize and remember that your family is very very important,
whether they are relatives or friends, because both can be part of your family.
catch up with your friends.
stay in touch.
be part of a community. or a social group.
eat ACTUAL cake. we usually do this at annual birthdays, or other traditional celebrations, as well as sing and dance a little.
i mean what happened to dinner parties? anyone can have one. they're lots of fun, and you get spend some QUALITY CATCH UP TIME with your GOOD FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
don't just sit around in life and stare at a TV screen, or a Cinema Screen, or a Computer Screen for that matter,
actually talk to real people about interesting things like
abortion
whaling
education of young children through to adolescence
social awareness and acceptance of mental health problems
social awareness and acceptance of homosexuality, bisexuality, and hetrosexuality.
euthanasia.

discuss and debate what you believe.

i mean you probably already do this to some degree, but all of those things,
you can make a difference if you wish.
all of this is called politics.
all the things which shape most of your life, your education, your job, your wage,
your bank/mortgage, your children's lives, your own childhood, they depend on
politics.

so if you think politics is something stupid, about some silly politician speaking up there
about something they don't know about, real human lives, real human suffering,
real human joy and enthusiasm and love, well get real.

they are people too.
as is your classroom teacher.
and your mother.
and your father.

they may have horrific childhood memories, or life experiences, how do you know what they've been through?
how exactly can you judge the content of somebody's life by what they wear, and say, and look like?

so if they are a person, then you should treat them with respect, they are doing
their best, and if you try to sabotage something that is leading towards the greater good,
well shame on you, shame on the immaturity of disrespecting someone wise
someone TRYING to help you in Every Way They Can.

when i said go back to history and look at how things used to be, i didn't mean go back to history
and cling to all the old ways, because that's not going to help anybody.

imagine if i was a 16 year old girl named Miiri for example.
an on the spot story here:
my father has come home from the pub, he's drunk,
he's aggressive, and he starts bashing my mum up,
i get pretty upset about it, so i escape to the friday night party
at my mate's house.
some guy there offers me a drink. emotionally i'm flattered by his
attention, and in need of a positive role model.
so what happens. i get drunk. all of a sudden.
very very drunk. and he leads me up to the top bedroom.
being very nice the whole time. telling me i'm beautiful.
and a gorgeous girl. being a 16 year old girl, i'm obviously romantic,
i mean HELLO! titanic, dear john, ps.i love you, legally blonde, need i say more?
so i'm falling for this guy. he's pretty sweet. actually he's really goodlooking too.

until we get into the bedroom that is.
he holds me down. forces me. spits in my face.
i lose my virginity.
and next month i find out i'm pregnant.

lets pretend that my mother is a strict catholic who doesn't endorse abortion
and i'm living in QLD where abortion is illegal.
WHAT ON EARTH DO I DO?
i must be freaking out. not only this but i'm freaking out alone.
because i'm scared of what's going to happen to me.
i mean the guy seemed nice.
but i want a life. a job. i can't have a baby now.
but mum isn't for abortions. and neither is my government.

well maybe i should just get mum's knitting needles and stick them into my womb.
or maybe the kitchen scissors? or wait! i know, maybe i'll get the kitchen knife.

is that what you want? keeping abortion as a crime, drives desperate women to
severely hurt themselves because they feel there's no way out.

if you don't think that's wrong, then i think you are an idiot.
i know its not fair to call names.
but seriously, get real!
you actually WANT to make 16 year old girls stick kitchen knives up their wombs?
because THAT IS THE BLIDDY CONSEQUENCE.

ok. i don't mind. let the 16 year olds half way kill themselves to get a career.
let the young scared people ruin their wombs for the future.
go ahead. i don't mind at all.
really, i'll give you a PIECE OF CAKE, if you see one in a hospital with blood and cuts.

btw my mother supports abortion, and my father is by no means abusive or alcoholic
in any way, shape, or form. he's gentle, patient, tolerant, smart, and good with people,
like me C:

so, yet again, i remind you to actually discuss and talk about what you hear, see, watch, learn.
talk to your daughter about what a movie means.
show your son a good movie or book that you felt changed your life a little bit.

like 'walkin the dog' did for me. or tuesday's with murrie. or girl with a pearl earring.
or Autumn Bridge by Takashi Matsuoka.

use your true mind. your true heart.
stand up for what you believe.
and every person has the right to believe something
so don't squash others for being different.

all the best in every way C:
Britta
